I am running for a seat on the Alpine School Board, District 4, which includes downtown and east Pleasant Grove, all of Lindon, and the northwest section of Orem.
I am local. I spent the majority of my youth in Pleasant Grove, attending many of the same great schools I will represent in this board seat. My husband, Brett, is a PG native, and we graduated from Pleasant Grove High School right next to each other. I am grateful for the inspiration provided by my parents, Mike and Adrienne Thomas, in education and civic service. I am equally inspired by my parents-in-law, Lyle and Marcene Thacker, who are life-long educators themselves, and givers of countless hours of civic service as well. Our parents were long time members of this community. Lindon has been my home since 1997 and my children enjoy the same excellent education I did at our local schools.
I am an experienced school board member, representing a local school board for the last 6 years in all facets of governance, policy development, financial planning, personnel oversight, and curriculum decisions. I've enjoyed working with great students, parents, teachers, administrators, staff, and board members.
I am a teacher. A graduate of BYU's Early Childhood Education program, I've taught early learners in my home for 14 years (just started year 15!). It is a joy to watch young children progress with the essential skills to succeed at the next levels.
As a member of the Alpine School Board, I will advocate for the students and parents in our community, and the teachers and administrators who make our schools great!
